Panamá house splendid designed by Brazilian architect Marcio Kogan & Samanta Cafardo(co-author). Apart from for living, the house has been designed to house and exhibit the art collection of their owner.
The site of Panamá house is located in one of the garden neighborhoods, just some blocks from Paulista, the financial center of the city of São Paulo. The client has an important art collection, above all, modern Brazilian art, and the house was designed to house this collection. It is a small construction with an equally simple program: A caretaker’s house of a property on an island on the North coast of the State of São Paulo, Brazil. The site, at 100 meters above sea level, next to two enormous rocks, already had the old caretaker’s house, one-story house with stone walls and clay roof tiles.The new building has 2 floors, a white suspended box, where the bedroom is and it is possible to see the continent and the São Sebastião Channel. Extension to Waldorf School designed by Morten Schmidt
schmidt hammer lassen architects has unveiled their new addition to The Rudolf Steiner School in Aarhus, Denmark. The innovative new building, which reflects an interdisciplinary approach to education, has been designed by the practice’s partner Morten Schmidt, a former student of the school.
The Austrian philosopher Rudolf Steiner founded the Waldorf schools in 1919. These institutions continue to emphasise the role of imagination within learning, integrating artistic, academic and practical elements of education. The Barrow extension appears as an arrangement of timber boxes, each independently rotated and subjected to varying amounts of extruding and manipulating forces. These separate actions result in a variety of shapes, which united, create an interior of differing volumes and organizations, providing an interesting double story addition to this weatherboard house.
The extension challenges the traditional nature of timber construction. Normally lightweight and fragile, added wall thickness to different areas results in a structure with a fluctuating sense of mass. The dynamic and varying nature of these environments is further enhanced by differing window arrangements and framing techniques. Frequently the windows are setback within the frame of the wall, sometimes flush and occasionallyextruding beyond the timber frame. Read the rest of this entry »

HIILI/CARBON is located on a high-contrast boundary between the asphalt surface of the Finlandia Hall parking area and the lawn of an art garden. It gives citizens a place to sit and admire a new view of the city: CARBON frames the view of the surrounding landscape. Read the rest of this entry »

Pragmatically the space was to be re-planned; lean-to sheds removed and an extension added to create a total of four to five bedrooms, three bathrooms, more generous circulation space with rooms of better proportions.
