Hole 19 is a golf course’s clubhouse designed Xarchitekten from Austria. The golf course as an integrated design landscape and topography nestles up to the soft downs of the Mühlviertel. A new house on a narrow, elevated north facing site for a structural engineer / builder client. The design has achieved north facing aspects to all internal and external living areas. The Rothoblaas office is a large scale commercial operation specializing in assembling systems and power tools for the woodworking industry. Warehouse and commissioning are situated on the ground floor and a showroom can be found on the upper floor. The aim of the project was to create a compact building with a high level of recognition. Design Combines Functions of Library, Life-Long Learning Center and Music Center
NEW YORK, August 4 — REX and Principal in Charge Joshua Prince-Ramus have been named the winner of the BibLLLiotheek competition to build a “Library of the Future” for the city of Kortrijk, Belgium. PROJECT: Winning entry of a closed competition
STATUS: Project
ARCHITECT: KOSMOS
The 5-story apartment building is situated on the edge of the medieval old town of Tallinn. It is not dominant from the street level, nor does it seem too high in the surrounding context. The dynamic mass of the building is situated in the northern and western side of the plot. In connection with some old historically valuable buildings,it creates an environment of small interconnected units, characteristic to the architectural whole of the old town. Bercy Chen Studio: Our concept revolved around the notions of recycling a building, reusing natural and manmade resources and reclaiming the ancient ideal that buildings can and should be sacred places, especially the home.
The project began as a modest remodel, but turned into a full master-planning for the site; including complete interior and exterior recycle, an addition to an existing 1970’s home, as well as re-organization of the garden. As the original house was poorly sited, a large motivation of the design was to reconnect the house with its site by utilizing the steep topography to capture the expansive views.
