The mayor of Rotterdam, Ahmed Aboutaleb and city councilor Hamit Karakus have officially started the construction of the new Rotterdam Market Hall. The arched building located in the centre of Rotterdam, developed by Provast and designed by MVRDV is a hybrid of public market and apartment building. Completion is set for 2014. MVRDV with Blanca Lleó complete Celosia Residence, Madrid
In Madrid-Sanchinarro the first residents received the keys to their apartments in the just completed Celosia building. Jacob van Rijs of MVRDV and Blanca Lleó have completed the social housing block near the Mirador Building, which is an earlier collaboration. The perforated block of Celosia assembles 146 apartments, communal outside areas throughout the building, and parking and commercial program in the plinth. The total floor area is 21,550m2. With a construction cost of 12,6 million Euro the apartments can be sold for affordable prizes. The city block is opened and allows wind and light to enter the building, offering vistas and outside spaces contrasting the surrounding area. After making lots of attention in my home town Bangkok with Project ” Mahanakhon”, now OMA led by Ole Scheeren unveils design for The Interlace residential complex in Singapore. Here are from the architects:
Singapore, 4 September, 2009 – Ole Scheeren of OMA introduces a new residential typology to Singapore with The Interlace, a large-scale complex of interconnected apartment buildings stacked in an innovative hexagonal arrangement, developed by CapitaLand and Hotel Properties Limited.

PROJECT: Winning entry of a closed competition

ARCHITECT: KOSMOS
The 5-story apartment building is situated on the edge of the medieval old town of Tallinn. It is not dominant from the street level, nor does it seem too high in the surrounding context. The dynamic mass of the building is situated in the northern and western side of the plot. In connection with some old historically valuable buildings,it creates an environment of small interconnected units, characteristic to the architectural whole of the old town.
