uvre lens by SANAA, imrey culbert and mosbach paysagistes
Construction has begun for the louvre lens atop an abandoned mine field near the cityof lille in northern france. Co-designed by tokyo-based SANAA, New york-based imrey culbert,and Paris-based mosbach paysagistes, the new branch of the louvre will span 300,000 squarefeet of new construction, devoting over 75,000 square feet of galleries and visitable storage areas for hundreds of treasures from the louvre’s collection. CircleBath is Foster + Partners’ first hospital and represents a radical departure from orthodox approaches to hospital planning. The three-storey building is set into the hills on the edge of protected green belt nine kilometres south east of Bath and its compact arrangement provides a ‘corridor-less’ environment, encouraging a sense of community and well-being. Designed by Marcus O’Reilly Architects, this single story house is located on a leafy well established street in Kyneton. While appropriately scaled for the neighbourhood it is a variation on the local typology. Whereas the typical suburban model of a distinct front yard and back yard is the norm in the area, this design focuses the house to a generous north facing outdoor room. Schmidt hammer lassen architects have won a competition for a Congress and Hotel Centre on the central harbour front of Helsingborg in Sweden, which is a 15-minute ferry trip from Elsinore in Denmark.
