A new house on a narrow, elevated north facing site for a structural engineer / builder client. The design has achieved north facing aspects to all internal and external living areas. The Rothoblaas office is a large scale commercial operation specializing in assembling systems and power tools for the woodworking industry. Warehouse and commissioning are situated on the ground floor and a showroom can be found on the upper floor. The aim of the project was to create a compact building with a high level of recognition. Unstudio has won the limited competition for a 40,000 spectator football stadium for the most successful club in the Chinese Super League: Dalian Shide FC. Designed by GROUP A, Student housing tower Blok 1 serves as a landmark and a visual beacon of change and renewal for the Presikhaaf area. The buiding is part of a larger redevelopment scheme, which forsees in the partial demolition of post-war housing estates in the neighbourhood making way for new, more upmarket, housing developements. Additionally, student housing is included in the scheme, as the presence of students will lead to differentiation and rejuvenation of the neighbourhood. Terry Pawson Architects’ VISUAL & the George Bernard Shaw Theatre provides Ireland with a significant new arts space to showcase contemporary visual arts and theatre of national and international importance. Unique to Ireland, the new building features an expansive gallery space with a ceiling height of12m to accommodate large-scale sculpture and installation, the scale of which has not been easily accommodated in Ireland to date. Designed by Klab Architects,the extension of a famous gathering space in Psiri, Greek. The rusted steel facade has been chosen to metaphor the transformation of the neighborhood as well as nice interior inspired by jazz music’s improvisation. Followings from architects;
Guru Bar’ was one of the first bars to open in the central area of Psiri in Athens at a time when the neighbourhood was beginning to be transformed into a vibrant cultural area. The rebuilding of the district was intended to be a model example of urban regeneration in the period running up to and after the Olympic games however this was not to be. MVRDV with Blanca Lleó complete Celosia Residence, Madrid
In Madrid-Sanchinarro the first residents received the keys to their apartments in the just completed Celosia building. Jacob van Rijs of MVRDV and Blanca Lleó have completed the social housing block near the Mirador Building, which is an earlier collaboration. The perforated block of Celosia assembles 146 apartments, communal outside areas throughout the building, and parking and commercial program in the plinth. The total floor area is 21,550m2. With a construction cost of 12,6 million Euro the apartments can be sold for affordable prizes. The city block is opened and allows wind and light to enter the building, offering vistas and outside spaces contrasting the surrounding area. The client is EMVS, the public housing corporation of the city of Madrid. Read the rest of this entry »
