Monday 14 September marks the grand opening of the new Darwin Centre at the Natural History Museum in London, with the participation of Prince William and Sir David Attenborough. From Tuesday 15 September, the centre will be open for the public.
The Natural History Museum is both one of the UK’s top five visitor attractions, and a world-leading science research centre. The architecture of both phases of the Darwin Centre are designed to reflect this dual role, and, through innovative and ambitious design, reveal to the public for the first time the incredible range and diversity of the Museum’s collections and the cutting-edge scientific research they support. A REMARKABLE TRANSFORMATION
The Threshing Barn is a Grade 2 listed farm building dating from the 16th century. Through the sensitive work of owners Janine and Roy Naismith, and their architect the Haddow Partnership, it has been transformed it into a striking and award-winning contemporary home.
Hidden in a small village in southern England, the barn lay derelict for many years before its current owners spotted its potential.“The character and history of old wood combined with the opportunity for open-plan living attracted us to this old barn” said Roy Naismith. “But we wanted to put a contemporary home inside the old timbers, not a faux farmhouse” Read the rest of this entry »

Challenged to carve out a self-sustaining community from an empty landscape, Perkins Eastman was commissioned by the Talaat Moustafa Group to develop the master plan for a 106-hectare (262-acre) urban center. The Madinaty City Center is envisioned as an integrative network of open and green spaces that establish connective links between neighborhood nodes and functional identities. Nice living wall on simple form with the full connection with the garden, This extension designed by Bricault Design is well-worth to feature and buzz with you guys.
The clients for this project needed more space to accommodate the needs of a growing family, but they were reluctant to leave their location in Venice – one of the few walkable neighborhoods in Los Angeles. The solution was to maintain and remodel their existing 2000 square foot home, while creating a 1700 square foot addition and courtyard on the rear lane side.
