Start construction MVRDV Book Mountain
(Spijkenisse, May 28 2009): Today the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of the new Public Library for Spijkenissse, near Rottterdam took place. Completion of the building designed by MVRDV is scheduled for fall 2011. The new public library with a surface of 10,000 m² will be an example of energy efficiency and advertise reading through its design of a book mountain.
The new public library with a surface of 10,000 m² will be located in the inner city of Spijkenisse, at the corner of a major throughway, the central market square and the church opposite. In addition to the book collection and reading areas, the library will accommodate commercial facilities, offices, an auditorium, conference rooms, and exhibition spaces.

World’s most sustainable shopping centre announced
ATRIO in Villach, Austria, was named the world’s most sustainable shopping centre at the ICSC (International Council of Shopping Centers) “night of the stars” gala during the retail spring convention of the international industry organisation at Caesars Palace.
ATRIO, designed by ATP Architects and Engineers for SES Spar European Shopping Centers, had already been awarded the International Design and Development Award in the category for “New Projects between 15,000 and 45,000 sq m”, the major prize of the ICSC Center Build Conference in Phoenix, Arizona, in December 2008. Panamá house splendid designed by Brazilian architect Marcio Kogan & Samanta Cafardo(co-author). Apart from for living, the house has been designed to house and exhibit the art collection of their owner.
The site of Panamá house is located in one of the garden neighborhoods, just some blocks from Paulista, the financial center of the city of São Paulo. The client has an important art collection, above all, modern Brazilian art, and the house was designed to house this collection.
