In Gotland Sweden the house becomes barely visible, mirroring its surroundings with its façade. From a centrally placed kitchen and living room you have the feeling of living in the nature. The façade is a playful comment on allowing modern architecture to be visual in the landscape. The house allows you to experience colour, texture, surface, material, transparency and light on and through the façades. Read the rest of this entry »

A nice little house designed by Marc Koehler Architects shows us interested Architectonic, sustainable, and eco- friendly design. The black façade will be changed to green soon by the vertical garden. Here is from the architects;
The 140 m2 house is located on a small plot in IJburg; a recently developed suburb of the city of Amsterdam. The house is designed as a vertical garden giving space to flora and fauna to grow in a densely urbanised area. Closed private spaces contrast with open collective spaces, that seem to have been ‘carved out’ from the solid volume as a continuous transparent void. In this way the interior space is visual and socially connected to the street, the garden and roof terraces. Outdoor- and indoor spaces become one and natural daylight flows into the interior.

The result of an international design competition in 2004, the Zénith is a new cultural destination for Saint-Etienne and the first purpose built state-of-the-art music venue for the Rhone-Alpes region of central southern France. The new building is characterised by its aerodynamic roof and flexible performance space, and marks a major departure from Zénith’s tradition of using temporary venues. The project has two aims: to raise Saint-Etienne’s profile as a regional venue for arts events and to help drive the regeneration of this formerly industrial city. Read the rest of this entry »

This is very cool, I like the way architects fold the deck to the new extension space. The tattoo idea is definitely interesting, joyful and yet economical option they can achieve with the local regulation contraint. The Tattto house is designed by Andrew Maynard Architects from Australia, here is from the architects;
